Plot summary

Cody Maverick, a teenage northern rockhopper penguin, lives in obscurity on Pen Gu Island, teaching children to surf at his own school with gentoo penguin Lani Aliikai, while his rival Tank Evans runs another. Cody's best friend Chicken Joe, a world-famous surfer billed as El Pollo Loco, leaves his world tour to visit. Then The Hang 5 arrive: giant otter Mr. McMahon, puffin Paige, penguins J.C., The Undertaker and Hunter, and their announcer Seagull. Cody, a childhood fan, throws them a party. Mr. McMahon reveals the team is bound for a mythical spot called the Trenches to take on a 50 ft rogue wave, and that he is retiring and has come to find his replacement. McMahon and Paige pick Lani, Cody and Tank win sponsorship from J.C. and Hunter, and the Undertaker takes Chicken Joe as his candidate.
