Luis Tosar
Biography
Luis Tosar is a Spanish actor from Galicia who built a career in Spanish and English-language films. Born in Lugo in 1971, he started out in theater and short films and became known in Galicia through the television series Mareas Vivas before making his feature debut in Atilano for President (1998). A Goya nomination for Best New Actor followed for Flowers from Another World, and he was critically acclaimed for Mondays in the Sun and Take My Eyes (2003). His performance as the prisoner Malamadre in Cell 211 (2009) marked a turning point, and he has often been cast in thrillers such as El Niño (2014), Gun City (2018), All the Names of God (2023) and Fatum (2023), earning further Goya nominations. He also appeared in Miami Vice (2006) and is a member of the band Di Elas.
