Plot summary

Red Bovie, a cantankerous Texas rancher, cannot keep his land or his home, and the trailer park is all he can now afford. He refuses to go quietly, driving his Cadillac toward what he calls Old Mexico with Gally, the son of his long-estranged son Jimmy. On the road they pick up two hitchhikers, Moon and J.T., who have stolen more than $150,000 in drug money. When the pair take Red's beer, he drives off without them, and the satchel of money they left stays in the car. The dealers the money belongs to give chase, and the assassin Cholo is looking to recover it. In Mexico, during the Day of the Dead festival, the two meet Patty Wafers, a nightclub singer who takes an interest in Red.
