Plot summary
Lola, the nightclub singer in Heaven, receives a mission from her boss Marina: go to Earth and save the soul of Manny, a Spanish boxer. His brain was damaged in his last fight, so another blow could kill him, he is deep in debt, and he has lost the will to live. She arrives as his former wife, hoping to win him back and to get him to make peace with his mother, while he is a chauvinist interested in little but boxing, food and sex. In Hell, the waitress Carmen answers to Davenport, who orders her to get Manny fighting again; she poses as his cousin and moves into his flat. Both women take jobs in a hypermarket, backing the downtrodden staff against the corrupt management. Men working for a police chief Manny owes keep pushing him.
