Biography

Laura San Giacomo is an American actress who was born in West Orange, New Jersey, in 1962 and grew up in Denville. She studied acting at Carnegie Mellon University. Her breakthrough came with Steven Soderbergh's Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989), where she played Cynthia, a performance that earned her the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female and a Golden Globe nomination. In 1990 she appeared as Kit De Luca in Pretty Woman and as Crazy Cora in Quigley Down Under. On television she starred as Maya Gallo in the sitcom Just Shoot Me! from 1997 to 2003, earning another Golden Globe nomination, and later played Rhetta Rodriguez on Saving Grace and Dr. Grace Confalone on NCIS. Her other film credits include Vital Signs (1990), Under Suspicion (1991), Once Around (1991), Where the Day Takes You (1992), Suicide Kings (1997), and Havoc (2005). She also did voice work for Gargoyles.
