Plot summary
Renata Bella is one of three children in a Boston family; her father Joe runs a construction company and has been married to Marilyn, her mother, for thirty-four years. Renata is the only sibling still unmarried. Her boyfriend Rob tells her he has no plans to marry, so she leaves him and goes back to her parents' home. A course on selling condominiums in the Caribbean brings her together with Sam Sharpe, a successful salesman who speaks at the training seminar. Sam travels back with her, and the Bellas meet him. Most of them give him a chance, but her sister Jan takes a dislike to him, which strains the sisters' rapport.
