Josh Charles

Josh Charles is an American actor whose work spans film, television and theater. Born in Baltimore, he began performing comedy at age nine and later attended the Baltimore School for the Arts. He made his film debut in John Waters's Hairspray in 1988, then shared the screen with Robin Williams and Ethan Hawke in Dead Poets Society (1989). Other film roles include Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead (1991), Threesome (1994), S.W.A.T. (2003) and Four Brothers (2005). On television, he was sports anchor Dan Rydell on Aaron Sorkin's Sports Night, earning a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination, and appeared on In Treatment and the HBO limited series We Own This City. Will Gardner on The Good Wife became his most recognized role, earning two Primetime Emmy nominations. His theater credits include Confrontation, The Distance from Here, which won a Drama Desk Award for Best Ensemble Cast, and a Broadway debut in Straight White Men.
