Jessica Walter
Biography
Jessica Walter was an American actress who appeared in over 170 productions for film, stage, and television. Born in Brooklyn in 1941, she trained at the Neighborhood Playhouse before winning a 1963 Clarence Derwent Award for her Broadway debut in Photo Finish. She made her film debut in Lilith (1964) and soon appeared in Grand Prix (1966) and The Group (1966), both of which earned critical acclaim. Her best-known screen role came as Evelyn, a fan dangerously obsessed with Clint Eastwood's disc jockey, in Play Misty for Me (1971), which brought a Golden Globe nomination. On television, she won a Primetime Emmy Award for Amy Prentiss and was known for Lucille Bluth on Arrested Development, Fran Sinclair on Dinosaurs, and the voice of Malory Archer on Archer. Her later screen credits included The Flamingo Kid (1984), PCU (1994), and the sitcom Retired at 35, and she starred in the 2011 Broadway revival of Anything Goes. Walter died in 2021.

A role that slipped away
Walter voiced the doll form of Chucky in the 1988 horror film Child's Play, but Brad Dourif redubbed her lines after negative test screenings.
