James Seay

Biography

James Seay was an American character actor who usually played small supporting parts, frequently as government officials. He grew up in Pasadena, California, where he and his mother went to Saturday matinees at a stock theater company, and after a period with an insurance company he studied at the Pasadena Playhouse. A year there was followed by a summer at the Chapel Playhouse in Guilford, Connecticut, where he worked as a leading man. He returned to Pasadena, did two plays and got a Paramount contract, and in Miracle on 34th Street (1947) he appeared as a doctor at an old folks home. On television he played Judge Spicer sixteen times on The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp and a sheriff six times on Fury, with guest roles on Perry Mason, The Twilight Zone, The Andy Griffith Show and Adventures of Superman. During World War II he made training films for the Army Air Forces.
