Biography
Emmanuelle Seigner is a French actress and singer whose career began with modeling at fourteen. Born in Paris into a family of actors, she is the granddaughter of Louis Seigner and the niece of Françoise Seigner, both members of the Comédie-Française. Roman Polanski gave her a role in Frantic (1988) and later cast her in Bitter Moon, The Ninth Gate (1999) and Venus in Fur (2013), in which she played the actress Vanda opposite Mathieu Amalric and drew praise. Her other films include The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (2007), Place Vendôme (1998) and La Vie en Rose (2007). She earned a César nomination for best actress for Venus in Fur, plus two nominations for best supporting actress, for Place Vendôme and La Vie en Rose. She has also worked as a singer, fronting the band Ultra Orange and releasing a solo album, Distant Lover, in 2014.
