Plot summary
A virus has infected the newest game from the designer Jimi Dini, and it has left Solo, the figure at its heart, conscious. Solo feels everything done to his character, deaths included, and he asks Jimi to end him. Jimi means to reach the servers of Okasama Star, the company he works for, before the game arrives in stores on Christmas Day. His wife Lisa left him, and he has been depressed since; discovering what happened to her becomes part of the same effort. Lisa's friend Joystick and a tech wizard called Naima join him, while Okasama Star's people grow more forceful in their efforts to stop him.
