Eddie Deezen
Biography
Eddie Deezen is an American character actor and comedian known for nerdy roles in studio comedies, independent films and animation. Raised in Cumberland, Maryland, he moved to Los Angeles after high school and performed stand-up at The Comedy Store before giving it up for acting. The part of Eugene Felsnic in Grease brought him follow-up work with Robert Zemeckis on I Wanna Hold Your Hand (1978) and with Steven Spielberg on 1941 (1979). He went on to star as a mad scientist in the cult comedy Surf II (1984), played superintendent Eddie in the first season of Punky Brewster, and found steady employment in voice work, most memorably as Mandark on Dexter's Laboratory. Fred Olen Ray cast him as a lead in the direct-to-video Beverly Hills Vamp (1989), and he supplied the voice of the Know-It-All in The Polar Express (2004).

A role that slipped away
Eddie Deezen turned down the roles of Eaglebauer in Rock 'n' Roll High School and Spaz in Meatballs because he was already committed to appearing in Steven Spielberg's 1941.
A role that slipped away
In 1984, Deezen landed a major TV part as superintendent Eddie on the NBC sitcom Punky Brewster. He left the show after eight episodes, bothered by performing before a live audience and by ongoing trouble remembering his lines.
A role that slipped away
For Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Eddie Deezen was looked at for both the title role and Judge Doom, but Charles Fleischer and Christopher Lloyd were cast in those parts instead.
A change of course
Eddie Deezen abandoned stand-up comedy for acting after a poorly received set and difficulty memorizing his routine, having performed at The Comedy Store and been gonged on The Gong Show by Paul Williams.
A first
Deezen reprised his role as Eugene Felsnic in Grease 2 (1982), one of just seven actors from the original Grease who came back for the sequel.
A role that slipped away
In 2011, Deezen was considered to take over from Gilbert Gottfried as the Aflac Duck's voice, but the role went to someone else.
