Plot summary
Two years after the previous class graduated, Rydell High welcomes a new crop of seniors, among them the Pink Ladies and the motorcycle-riding T-Birds. The Pink Ladies have a new leader in Stephanie Zinone, who feels she has outgrown Johnny Nogerelli, the head of the T-Birds. Michael Carrington, a clean-cut British student and cousin of Sandy Olsson, arrives and is shown around by former Pink Lady Frenchy. He meets Stephanie and is quickly smitten. At a bowling alley, Johnny kisses Stephanie's friend Paulette Rebchuck, and Stephanie retaliates by kissing the next man through the door, Michael. When he asks her out, he learns she has a standard for a suitor: a cool rider. Michael begins secretly selling completed homework to the T-Birds to pay for a motorcycle.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Grease 2 (1982)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Caulfield's career was damaged by the film's failure: he has said that before Grease 2 came out he was being hailed as the next Richard Gere or John Travolta, but when it flopped nobody would touch him, and it took him ten years to get over it.
- Birch proposed featuring Travolta and Newton-John reprising their characters as a now married couple running a gas station near the end of the film, with Travolta singing a new number, Gas Pump Jockey; Newton-John rejected the offer, as she was more interested in doing Xanadu.
- Andy Gibb was screen tested to play the male lead but this proved unsatisfactory, and at one stage Timothy Hutton was announced; Carr later said Hutton sang and danced in his living room and was who he wanted, but they did not consider him sexy enough.
- With only a few television roles and small film appearances, Michelle Pfeiffer was a relatively unknown 23-year-old when she auditioned for Stephanie; Lisa Hartman, Kristy McNichol, Andrea McArdle and singer Pat Benatar were also considered for the part.
- The part played by Connie Stevens was originally meant for Annette Funicello, but she was unable to appear because her schedule as Skippy peanut butter spokeswoman did not allow her the time to film the scene.
- During an appearance for Rotten Tomatoes to promote Tick, Tick... Boom!, actor Andrew Garfield cited the film as one of his five favorite musicals, calling it great.
- Adrian Zmed had previously played the role of Danny Zuko in the stage version of Grease, a role he would later reprise in the 1990s.
- The film's screenplay was adapted in the Indian feature film Premaloka, starring Ravichandran and Juhi Chawla, released in 1987, which went on to become a blockbuster.
