Nancy Allen
Biography
Nancy Allen is an American actress who rose to prominence through a string of Brian De Palma films and became widely known for playing police officer Anne Lewis in the RoboCop series. Raised in the Bronx, she trained in dance before her first major film role, as Jack Nicholson's date in The Last Detail (1973). She followed that with the mean girl part in Carrie (1976), Robert Zemeckis's I Wanna Hold Your Hand (1978) and Steven Spielberg's 1941 (1979). Her performance as Liz Blake in Dressed to Kill (1980) earned a Golden Globe nomination in the New Star of the Year category, and she starred in the neo-noir Blow Out (1981). Later films include Strange Invaders (1983), The Philadelphia Experiment (1984), Poltergeist III (1988), RoboCop 2 (1990), RoboCop 3 (1993), The Patriots (1994) and Out of Sight (1998), with her three Saturn Award nominations coming for science fiction roles.

Nancy Allen got her first major film role in The Last Detail (1973), directed by Hal Ashby, playing Nancy, the nervous date of Jack Nicholson. That part led her to relocate to Los Angeles and keep acting.
A role that slipped away
Allen was nearly recast during the casting of Carrie, but was officially given the role of Chris Hargensen, the title character's chief nemesis.
Getting ready for a role
Allen returned as Officer Lewis in RoboCop 2. She took martial arts lessons and joined police training so her character would seem tougher and take part in more of the action.
A first
In 1990, Allen had the distinction of starring in Memories of Murder, which was the first original film ever made for the Lifetime television network.
