Plot summary
Mike Kelly's father drives a semi for a living, and one day the brakes give out on him and he is killed in the wreck. Convinced that the crash was not an accident, Mike quits college and buys a truck of his own, working the highways as a driver while he looks into how his father died. Along the way he gets to know Karen Fontaine, and he runs into a string of dubious characters who appear to hold clues about his father's death. Something is wrong in the trucking business: criminals attack drivers and take control of the routes.
