Bojana Novakovic
Biography
Bojana Novakovic is an Australian actress and filmmaker who was born in Belgrade and moved to Australia with her family as a child, settling in Sydney. She trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Art, graduating in 2002, and built a stage career in Australia with the Sydney Theatre Company and the Melbourne Theatre Company, earning Helpmann and Green Room nominations, and she ran her own independent company, Ride On Theatre. On screen, she won an AFI Award for the 2003 miniseries Marking Time and later starred in the television series Instinct and Love Me, the latter bringing several award nominations. Her films include Drag Me to Hell (2009), Edge of Darkness (2010), Devil (2010), Burning Man (2011), Generation Um... (2012), The Little Death (2014), The Hallow (2015) and I, Tonya (2017). She wrote, directed and co-produced the documentary The Forbidden Aunt, filmed in Serbia.

For a number of years, Novakovic and co-director Tanya Goldberg operated Ride On Theatre, an independent company in Sydney and Melbourne. She produced and appeared in its 2004 sell-out season of LOVEPLAY.

Novakovic directed, adapted and translated Fake Porno in Melbourne in 2008. The production was invited to Brisbane's Powerhouse season in 2009 and got three Green Room nominations, including best production.
Early training
Novakovic was dux of The McDonald College in 1998. She then graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art in 2002.
Beyond film
Novakovic took the lead in The Blind Date project, an improvised Ride On theatrical production, which opened at the Brisbane Powerhouse in May 2012 and was staged afterward in Sydney and Santa Monica, California.
