Biography
Amy Jo Johnson, born in Hyannis, Massachusetts, is an actress, musician and filmmaker who is American and Canadian. She trained at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute before moving to Los Angeles, where her breakthrough came as Kimberly Hart, the Pink Ranger, in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. She played that role in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (1995) and Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie (1997), then left the series in 1995. Her later screen work included Susie Q (1996), Killing Mr. Griffin (1997), Perfect Body (1997) and Without Limits (1998), and she held a main role as Julie Emrick on Felicity for three seasons. She appeared in Interstate 60 (2002) and Magma: Volcanic Disaster (2006), and from 2008 to 2012 she was a series regular on Flashpoint, earning a Gemini Award nomination. Johnson has also directed films, including Bent, Lines, The Space Between and Tammy's Always Dying, and released several albums.

Early training
Johnson trained at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and the American Musical and Dramatic Academy after moving to New York City at 18 to pursue acting.
A role that slipped away
In January 2023, Johnson said she had turned down the part of Kimberly Hart in the Power Rangers 30th anniversary special, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always, on Netflix, and sent her good wishes to the special and her former co-stars.
Getting ready for a role
Johnson's Felicity character was originally written as a dancer, but the producers rewrote the part as a singer and guitarist at her input, letting her perform her own song on the show.
