Plot summary
On the way to their winter formal in 1955, Susie Quinn and her boyfriend Johnny Angel are in a car that another vehicle strikes; it goes off a bridge into a river, and both die. Forty years later, Zach Sands, his widowed mother Penny and his younger sister Teri move into Susie's former house in Willow Valley, Washington. Zach is grieving his father, who died in a car accident, and guilt has kept him away from basketball. While he is fishing, he finds Susie's bracelet and her ghost appears. She asks him to find out what became of her family, and he learns that he is the only one who can see her.
