Plot summary
Adam West is preparing a charity gala for orphans built around a display of classic cars, among them the Batmobile from the series he once headlined. His butler arranges the evening and reunites him with his former co-star Burt Ward. Adam shows Burt the key he kept from the show's run, and when the lights cut out the key and the car are both gone. A valet says the thief asked the way to Arizona. Burt is reluctant, but Adam talks him into a road trip after the car. Along the way the two trade memories of the series: Burt living under a Miami pier and collecting bottles before his audition, Adam beating a rival for the role of Batman on his jawline.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Return to the Batcave - The Misadventures of Adam and Burt (2003)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Licensing problems involving the original TV series meant the makers of Return to the Batcave could only use footage from the 1966 Batman feature film, so Lee Meriwether's Catwoman is the only one seen in archive footage, even in a musical sequence meant to pay tribute to Julie Newmar.
- Lyle Waggoner, who originally auditioned for the part of Batman, has a cameo in Return to the Batcave, and some of his actual audition tape footage appears in the film. Betty White also has a cameo.
SPOILER
In the original Batman series, the Riddler was the only one of the four main supervillains, alongside the Joker, Penguin and Catwoman, never to enter the Batcave set; in Return to the Batcave, the Riddler finally does enter it.
