Brett Rickaby

Brett Rickaby is an American actor who has often been cast as psychopaths, sociopaths, and other disturbed figures. Born in 1964 in Shafer, Minnesota, he attended Chisago Lakes High School, where a professor from the University of Minnesota in Duluth urged him to join its theater program. He enrolled at UMD, was not cast in his first year, briefly thought about becoming a tree trimmer, but refocused and appeared in seven productions as a sophomore. In his senior year, 1987, he won the National Irene Ryan Acting Award at the Kennedy Center. That fall he began New York University's MFA program on a scholarship and originated two plays with Tony Kushner. His stage work included The New York Shakespeare Festival, The Roundabout, and The Actors Theatre of Louisville. In 1995, Nicholas Hytner hired him for the National Tour of Carousel, playing Jigger Craigin opposite Patrick Wilson.
