Plot summary
At Camp Manabe, Alan is the camper the others single out, and he keeps getting into trouble. In the dining hall, a complaint about the food becomes a fight with the counselor Randy. Ronnie lets Alan eat something else, the cook Mickey confronts him, and Alan throws a butcher knife at Mickey. Frank, who owns the camp, argues with Alan, who runs off with his stepbrother Michael chasing him. Ronnie cannot shake the memory of the murders at Camp Arawak twenty years earlier, which Frank calls accidents.

- Return to Sleepaway Camp was scheduled for a theatrical release between 2004 and 2006 but was held back by unsatisfactory CGI effects and a lack of distribution deals until November 2008. Executive producer Thomas E. Van Dell then hired a special effects group to reshoot work director Robert Hiltzik had not approved.
- Development of Return to Sleepaway Camp dates back to 2000, and the film had a troubled production process in part because several investors backed out after the downturn in the U.S. economy that followed the September 11 attacks.
