Plot summary
Angela Vidal, a television reporter, and her cameraman Scott Percival are recording the night shift at a Los Angeles fire station. A 911 call sends firefighters Jake and George Fletcher to a small apartment building, where screams have been heard from the unit of an elderly resident, Mrs. Espinosa, alarming the landlord Yuri, his wife Wanda, and their neighbors. Police officers Danny and James go in with the news crew. The woman attacks them, biting James and Fletcher, and Danny shoots her. Another resident, Elise, is found in the same condition. Those who were bitten fall sick and delirious, and a CDC quarantine seals the building, cutting phone and internet access while officials outside tell those inside nothing.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Quarantine (2008)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Unlike almost every Hollywood horror film, Quarantine has no musical score at all; director John Erick Dowdle relied purely on sound effects to unsettle the audience.
- The apartment building where the film takes place was not a real location but a fully functioning four-story set the crew built for the production.
- To heighten the found-footage realism, the cast and crew shot the entire film in chronological story order, with individual unbroken takes averaging four to six minutes long.
- Paco Plaza, co-director of the original Spanish film Rec, said the news that Hollywood would remake it as Quarantine became big news across Europe and raised Rec's own profile there.
