Panic in Echo Park (1977) on Netflix

Plot summary

Michael Stoner is a young physician at a hospital in Los Angeles. He finds evidence that a potentially fatal epidemic is spreading within Echo Park, a predominantly minority community. His warnings are met with skepticism: his superiors at the hospital and city officials dismiss them and accuse him of causing panic. Stoner opens his own inquiry into where the illness originates, working with limited resources and against institutional resistance from the hospital and the city. Fear and distrust grow within the community as the illness spreads. Stoner builds alliances with community leaders and uses his medical expertise in his effort to stop the outbreak.
