Biography

Regis Cordic was an American radio personality and actor who built his career first in Pittsburgh morning radio and later in Los Angeles screen and voice work. Born in Pittsburgh, he joined WWSW-AM as a staff announcer and substitute sportscaster before taking over the morning slot in 1948, where he developed the comedy program Cordic and Company with a cast of recurring comic characters; it became Pittsburgh's most popular morning show and later moved to KDKA. In 1965 he accepted a morning position at KNX in Los Angeles. After eighteen months with Cordic in that slot, the station adopted an all-news format, and he studied acting and moved into television, making several appearances on Gunsmoke and working in many other series. He had an uncredited part in Woody Allen's Sleeper (1973) and voiced a character in the animated film The Mouse and His Child (1977), and from the late 1970s he concentrated on cartoon voice roles. He died in 1999.
