Plot summary
Charlie is a compulsive gambler who talks his brother-in-law Herb into an all-expenses-paid cruise to Mexico. Only once the ship is at sea does Charlie admit the catch: the two of them are on board as dance hosts, put in a small cabin below decks, and told they must dance or owe a large sum for the trip. Gil Godwyn, a tyrannical cruise director, runs the ship. Vivian, a widow and former book editor, takes an interest in Herb, who she believes is a doctor; she came aboard with her daughter and the daughter's new husband to start dating again. Charlie has his eye on Liz LaBreche, an heiress.
