Plot summary
Connor Bates has spent three years in prison on an assault charge and returns to his mother's basement in a small coastal town, where the library is the only place that will hire him. While jogging, he meets Marilyn, a wealthy businessman's wife, and the two begin meeting. Marilyn says her husband mistreats her and his daughter Astrid. At work, a colleague named Kim shows her own interest in Connor and mentions that Astrid has taken up with Jared, a local playboy. Caught up in Marilyn, Connor raises the idea of killing her husband, and the two lay out a plan. When Marilyn leaves town with Astrid, Connor sets out for the house.
