Plot summary
Her father Polonius serves King Hamlet as chief adviser, and Ophelia is Queen Gertrude's favorite lady-in-waiting at Elsinore, mocked by the other women for her common birth. When Prince Hamlet returns from Wittenberg, he courts her, and the romance is interrupted when he goes back to his studies. Claudius, the king's brother, meanwhile draws Gertrude's attention. Sent by the queen to fetch a tonic from Mechtild, a healer in the forest, Ophelia witnesses a heated argument between the king and queen and follows the distraught Gertrude to the parapets, where a ghostly figure appears. By morning the king is dead, and Claudius has taken the throne and married Gertrude.

- Publicity company Bunker 15 ran a campaign that added eight reviews, seven positive and one negative, to Rotten Tomatoes between October 2018 and January 2019, changing the film's rating from "rotten" to "fresh". Critics said the company paid them at least $50 for positive reviews, and the Ophelia page was removed from the filmography listings of people involved.
