Plot summary
John Lennon and Yoko Ono move into a Greenwich Village apartment in 1971 and stay for 18 months while American politics shifts around them. The documentary uses restored concert footage and audio from their One to One benefit at Madison Square Garden on August 30, 1972, staged for children at Willowbrook, an institution on Staten Island. Those shows were Lennon's only full concerts after the Beatles split. Between performances, the film assembles television clips, phone calls, home movies and other recordings from the period, placing the couple against Richard Nixon's presidency, opposition to the Vietnam War, Lennon's failed Free the People tour and disputes over Ono's place in his life and the Beatles' story.
