Plot summary
Midian keeps coming back to Aaron Boone in his sleep, and Lori Winston, his girlfriend, wants him to return to therapy with Dr. Decker. At the same time, a killer has been wiping out whole families. Decker tells Boone that the dreams look like those killings and that he should give himself up. In the hospital that follows, a fellow patient raves about Midian and says how to find it, then tears his own face away. In the confusion Boone gets out and makes for the place from his dreams, where he finds a graveyard and lies down to sleep. After dark, creatures gather around him and quarrel over whether he belongs among them.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Nightbreed (1990)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Clive Barker was given an $11 million budget for Nightbreed, up sharply from the $2 million he had for Hellraiser, because his stated goal this time was to make what he called the Star Wars of horror films.
- The Nightbreed creatures were originally meant to be brought to life with stop-motion puppets, but the technique was mostly abandoned for make-up as production went on; animator Rory Fellowes summed up the timing problem by saying they were too late for stop-motion and too early for CG.
- Barker brought in Star Wars concept artist Ralph McQuarrie late in filming to paint the Necropolis mattes and to hand-paint a 60-foot mural at Pinewood Studios depicting the Nightbreed's history, footage of which was used for the film's opening credits.
- Barker's original cut of Nightbreed ran two and a half hours, but Fox demanded almost an hour be removed, a cut so drastic that editor Richard Marden quit the project in protest before the film was trimmed down to 102 minutes.
