Plot summary

Bronson, the squad's American leader, stays near Norma, once an Army nurse he fell in love with and now a widow living with Alzheimer's disease, while the others blame his leadership for the years they lost in Vietnam. Caine longs to sail his yacht. Wendell, a former bikie and bank robber who uses a wheelchair, wants to reach his estranged son Bruce, whom he never took to a football match. Angus, formerly of Collingwood, never received his 1973 Brownlow medal, disqualified for punching an opponent. Since the Mental Health Act keeps the four inside Hogan Hills, they ask Elliot, a young orderly, to help them plan their way out.
