Plot summary
Santa gives a young scout elf named Chippey his assignment for the Christmas season: the McTuttle family. Taylor McTuttle, the boy in that house, has started to question the magic of Christmas, and Chippey's task is to restore his belief. The Elf on the Shelf lays down rules for the scout elves, and the posting turns out to be a harder one for Chippey than he had expected. His friends among the elves, Santa, and an unexpected child he meets along the way help him see why the job he does matters.
