1. Getting ready for a role

   Soko says she most enjoys parts that call for physical challenges. For the 2007 film On the Ropes, she spent a year training in boxing with French champions.

   Getting ready for a role

   For The Dancer (2016), Soko insisted on doing the dancing herself rather than using a double, so she trained for three months, eight hours each day.

3. Early training

   At 16, Soko moved from Bordeaux to Paris to pursue acting, and while studying at Cours Eva Saint-Paul she started writing songs.

4. Behind the camera

   Soko has her own record label, which she calls Babycat Records, and in France she is signed to Because Music.

5. Big break

   In 2007, Soko had a hit in Denmark with the personal anecdotal song "I'll Kill Her" once the radio program The Black Boy Scouts started promoting it. It hit number one on the Danish iTunes Store chart.

6. A first

   Soko's song "We Might Be Dead by Tomorrow" debuted at number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 after the short video First Kiss, in which she was one of twenty subjects, went viral.
