Plot summary
Two mothers live in the same neighborhood and cannot stand each other. One of them looks at her neighbor as a village girl who has only lately come into money, and she does not think the woman belongs among the families around her. Their children happen to attend the same school, and both pupils sit at the top of the class. A competition is held for the children, and each woman wants her own child to take it. The contest turns the pair of them into rivals, and the two of them start working on schemes and antics to put their child ahead.
