Plot summary
Oache the frog remembers the day the Fairy of the Forest came to his spring to drink. He told her that frogs are good for nothing, and she froze his legs in the water as a punishment. Two sisters, Maria and Mirabela, who were playing with a ball nearby, found him and wanted to set him free. Oache's friends, the frogs, danced and broke the ice, and the girls carried him away with the ice that remained, meaning to reach the Fairy so that she would release him. On the road they came upon Scăpărici, a firefly, and then upon Omide, the daughter of the King of Caterpillars, now a butterfly, both of them in trouble. Midnight was the hour by which they had to arrive.
