Plot summary
Mal has run out of reasons to keep living, and the only thing that still reaches him is crystal meth. He packs a bag with weapons and bombs he has made himself and sets out for the shopping mall nearby. Inside the building, Jeff, a college student, walks the concourse with his friend Adelle and tells her that the world around them has been hollowed out into a copy of itself. He points out the people he notices: Donna, a housewife who frets about whether she is still attractive, Barry, a salesman who dislikes the trade he stays in, a security guard who arrived as an immigrant and lives for the job, and Danny, a married businessman who seeks out casual sex. Jeff and Adelle find Beckett and Shel.
