Plot summary
Robert Traven, an American businessman worn out by long-distance travel, lands in Naples and is met by a representative of a local company. He wants only to rest in his hotel room. Antonio Jasiello, who keeps records at a bank, comes to see him and greets him as a friend from the war. Traven does not recognize the man and believes he is being cheated, so the two part angrily. Jasiello leaves behind a photograph of Traven with his sister, taken forty years before, and Traven's memory stirs.
