Lucky Them (2013) on Netflix

Plot summary

Giles, the editor of Stax, a dying underground music magazine, hands Ellie Klug a tenth-anniversary piece on Matthew Smith, a rock figure most people believe killed himself. Ellie is a critic in her forties and was Matthew's childhood sweetheart, staying with him until he vanished. She doubts he is dead and sets out to find him. A tip online gives a location, and Giles provides a thousand dollars to pay the source. Distracted by Lucas Stone, a struggling musician who is interested in her, she leaves the money beside him. To raise it again she asks Charlie, an awkward wealthy man she dated briefly, who agrees to help if he can film her search for a documentary.
