Plot summary
Goose hides his father's car keys on Christmas Eve, hoping the fireman will not answer an emergency call. His mother finds her own keys and drives her husband to work; both are killed in a crash ten minutes later. A year on, Goose lives on the streets of Manchester, stealing and selling what he takes to Frank, a fence on his estate, and looking after his grandma. On Christmas Eve he meets Anthony, a man with no memory of who he is, who can hold a person's hand and see the story of what they have lost. Goose persuades him to help recover a bangle he stole, hoping the trail leads to his lost dog.
