Plot summary
Satan's 10,000-year reign over Hell is ending, and he must name one of his three sons to follow him. Adrian is the most devious, Cassius the cruelest, and Nicky the kindest, a son whose jaw was left disfigured when Cassius hit him with a shovel. Satan decides none of them is ready and keeps the throne. Adrian and Cassius then leave for Earth to build a Hell of their own by taking over political and religious figures in New York City. Their exit freezes Hell's gate, and Satan starts to fade. He sends Nicky after them.
