Plot summary
Five years into their marriage, Greg Focker and Pam are getting ready to move to a new house and to mark the fifth birthday of their twins, Samantha and Henry. Pam's parents, Jack and Dina Byrnes, come to visit, and Jack, who has a heart condition, says he wants a successor as head of the Byrnes family. He picks Greg for the role, calling him the Godfocker. Greg accepts reluctantly. He has also taken a side job promoting Sustengo, an erectile dysfunction drug, working alongside Andi Garcia, a drug representative who flirts with him.

- In January 2010 the release date was pushed back from July 30 to December 22, nominally because Universal hoped to benefit from the long Christmas weekend. It was later revealed that the delay was really to accommodate the filming of Hoffman's scenes after he elected to reprise his character, and it was kept secret.
- The studio failed to reach salary terms with Hoffman until principal photography had officially wrapped, so several alternative scenes were filmed in case the negotiations failed. His character was ultimately kept, with a significantly smaller role than in the previous entry.
- After the commercial success of the first two films, De Niro and Stiller each received a remuneration of $20 million for their roles in Little Fockers, a film with a $100 million production budget.
