Plot summary
Vernon, the brother of Eddie Morra's ex-wife Melissa, hands the stalled New York City author a sample of NZT-48 and hints it will fix his creative problems. Eddie takes the pill and finds that everything he has read, heard and seen is suddenly in order and within reach. His book advances, and Lindy, who had given up on him, comes back. With almost no money, he takes a hundred thousand dollars from Gennady, a loan shark, and day trades with it. The gains are startling, and they bring him to the attention of the finance tycoon Carl Van Loon, who wants to test what Eddie can do.
