Plot summary
Pluto is out in the snow when he hears a kitten meowing from a bag adrift on an ice floe. He pulls the bag from the water and finds the kitten inside. He loses interest at first, but the kitten follows him home and Mickey adopts it. Pluto grows jealous of the attention the kitten receives. A shoulder devil appears and urges him to cause trouble, while a shoulder angel argues against the idea. The devil jabs the angel with his trident and drives him away. Hoping to land the kitten in trouble, Pluto holds it up near Mickey's goldfish, Bianca.

- Lend a Paw won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at the 14th Academy Awards in 1942, and is the only Mickey Mouse short ever to have won that award.
