Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Noel Clarke has said that a large majority of Kidulthood is an autobiographical portrait of himself and his four friends growing up in Ladbroke Grove, west London. The character of Uncle Curtis and the gun-drilling scene were the exceptions, added later on.
- Kidulthood's production nearly collapsed and studios rejected it for its promiscuous portrayal of British teenagers, until producer George Isaac funded it. Filming began in November 2004 while Noel Clarke was also shooting the first series of the 2005 revival of Doctor Who.
- Noel Clarke got the idea for Kidulthood after being rejected for lead roles in films and TV shows and offered only minor parts as the stereotypical black robber. He had worked at his local west London sports center as an athlete, gym instructor, waterslide attendant and lifeguard.
