Plot summary
The Centre, an entity born from the Earth itself, watches the dinosaurs and human evolution and decides that humanity must be wiped out. When the Korean War ends, Hal Jordan, a pilot, and his wingman Kyle "Ace" Morgan survive an enemy attack. Hal trains at Ferris Aircraft with Rick Flag for a government project: a spacecraft meant to reach Mars, watched over by the special agent King Faraday. In Gotham City, Saul Erdel accidentally teleports the last Green Martian, J'onn J'onzz, to Earth and dies of fright after seeing him. J'onn takes Erdel's place and learns about the world from television. Two years later he works as the Gotham detective John Jones, on a case involving a doomsday cult that reveres the Centre and has taken a child.
