Plot summary
Taped in New York City, the special captures a comedian on a farewell tour of the routines that made him famous. On stage he works through the bits he has told for years, presenting the evening as the last time he will perform them. It begins with a pre-recorded funeral for that old material, with fellow comedians among the mourners. The comedian had promised that this would end his use of the old bits, the ones he had drawn on for his television series. The performance was also issued as an album, which received a Grammy nomination for Best Spoken Comedy Album, while the special picked up two Primetime Emmy nominations.
