Plot summary
England's throne is in dispute when Wilfred of Ivanhoe comes back from the Crusades. Prince John, King Richard's brother, holds power, backed by Norman knights and by the Knights Templar, and Ivanhoe sets out to help restore Richard. He is the son of Cedric of Rotherwood, whose household includes his ward, Lady Rowena, and his jester, Wamba. Robert of Locksley, who is also called Robin Hood, and the Saxons take Ivanhoe's side. Isaac of York is a Jewish money-lender, and Rebecca is his daughter. Lucas de Beaumanoir heads the Knights Templar as their Grand Master, and Fitzurse advises Prince John.
