Plot summary
Lily Bloom is supposed to deliver a eulogy at the funeral of her father, Andrew, and instead walks off the podium in silence. Back in Boston, she meets Ryle Kincaid, a neurosurgeon, and they flirt until an emergency operation calls him away. Lily is renovating the building she bought for her flower shop when she hires Allysa, who turns out to be Ryle's sister. At Allysa's birthday party the two kiss and Lily makes clear she wants a relationship, not the casual arrangement he had in mind; by morning she agrees to date him. He asks to meet her mother, Jenny, and they go to Root, a new restaurant whose kitchen is run by Atlas Corrigan, a man she dated in high school.

- Blake Lively filed a legal complaint with the California Civil Rights Department on December 20, 2024, accusing Justin Baldoni, producer Jamey Heath and their studio Wayfarer of a hostile work environment, claiming Baldoni improvised unwanted kissing and that both men entered her makeup trailer while she was undressed and breastfeeding.
- During production, Blake Lively had her husband Ryan Reynolds write the scene where the lead characters first meet, and she commissioned a second cut of the film from editor Shane Reid.
