Plot summary
Enrico Melotti's home life is a knot of difficult relationships: his wife Marisa, the maid who keeps the house, and the secretary who is also his lover. A middle-aged businessman, he decides to give up all three and live on his own. A robot owned by his friend Arturo has already caught his interest, and on a business trip to America Arturo shows him Caterina, a machine built to look like a woman that handles domestic chores far better than a person can. Enrico buys one of the machines for himself. Caterina runs his household, and she serves him to perfection.
