Plot summary
Eddie Lomax is a depressed military veteran and drifter who has lost his will to live since his close friend Johnny died. While crossing a salt flat, his motorcycle breaks down, so he drinks and passes out. When he wakes, he rides on to the small desert town that Johnny once called home. There a gang of toughs beats him, shoots him, and steals his bike. After he recovers, Lomax sets out to take back the motorcycle and get revenge on the men who attacked him. Local handyman Jubal Early lends a hand, and several women in the area offer him comfort and support.
