Plot summary
In Sydney in the early 1930s, Errol Flynn has not yet become a Hollywood star. He gambles, brawls and prospects for gold, and after taking a map from a dead gold prospector he is certain it leads to gold in Papua New Guinea. He gathers three companions: Rex, a former Canadian smuggler, Dook Adams, an English gentleman handy on a ship, and Charlie, a sailor who grumbles at the plan. The four sail from Sydney up the east coast of Australia aboard the Sirocco, a yacht Flynn stole from Chinese opium smugglers. The smugglers want the vessel back, along with the opium concealed aboard, and they try to intercept the voyage.
